  2. Dystopia • The “nightmare” world of the future • Dystopias serve as warnings of modern trends in society…(too much of a good thing?) • Makes people think about the world they’re presently in and to see how distorted their perception of happiness is.

  3. Development of Science Fiction after World War II • Many parts of the world lived a nightmare/dystopia during the war • Question: What had society learned? Will anything change? • Science fiction writers made predictions about society after the lessons of world wars and the economic depression.

  4. Think about It … • What makes you HAPPY? • What’s one thing you COULDN’T live without today?

  5. Dystopia/Utopia Response From Bradbury’s history explain the top 3 events that have impacted his futuristic society into a dystopia (pages 51-57).
