  17. SUGGESTIONS • There is a need to investigate the wine markets in Cotonou, Benin Republic; • There is a need for further investigations at Aba, Abia state, Nigeria & Onitsha, Anambra state, Nigeria where Ekulo Group of Companies also active operate from, because these cities are very famous in the counterfeiting of foreign products which have large demand; • There is a need to investigate the exact printer & importers of counterfeit stamps & labels of Moet & Chandon Necta Imperial Rose in China; • There is a need for further investigations of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos where counterfeit Moet & Chandon Necta Imperial Rose stamps & labels enter Nigeria from China; • There is a need to investigate the activities of importers of wines into Nigeria in Spain.

  18. CONCLUSION • Moet & Chandon Necta Imperial Rose is MOST demanded Champaign in Nigeria; • This mission has confirmed that Moet & Chandon Necta Imperial Rose is counterfeited with Freixenet, a relatively cheap Spanish wine of the same colour, but or poor quality; • Several varieties of the Champaign which have different bottle markings / stamp & label wrappings were displayed for sale in major Lagos wine market shops & clubs; Freixenet (Cordon Rosado) is used for the production of counterfeit Moet & Chandon Necta Imperial Rose; The official importer of three Freixenet brands, (including Freixenet (Cordon Rosado) from Spain is Chief (Bishop) Emmanuel Okonkwo, the Okpuruisi 1 of Ibo land, CEO of Ekulo Group of Companies; Stamps & Labels of Moet & Chandon Necta Imperial Rose are printed in China; Counterfeiting of Moet & Chandon Necta Imperial Rose goes on actively in hidden locations in Eastern Nigeria & Benin Republic; Most counterfeit wines & other products enter Nigeria from the Cotonou port & are stored at the Lagos Trade Fair Complex store/warehouse; • There is a need to confirm these findings through further investigations that will confirm the exact identities of the counterfeiters of Moet & Chandon Necta Imperial Rose with Freixenet.
