Rates • Rates are payable to your local authority in full on a financial year basis • You are entitled to 80% rates relief • You can claim for the cost of national non-domestic rates (NNDR) once your academy has opened • Rates bills for new openers are adjusted to reflect how long the academy has been open in the financial year

  4. Pupil Premium • A per pupil amount based on the number of eligible pupils on the January census • Paid on a financial year basis in quarterly instalments (July, October, January, April) • Brand new academies receive a pro rata payment from September (based on the October 2014 census) until the start of the new financial year in April

  5. PE and sports premium for primary schools • The DfE is spending over £450m on improving physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools • Payments will be made directly to academies in the autumn and summer terms

  6. PE and sports premium for primary schools • Based on pupils in the January census (or October census for new openers) • Allocations calculated using the number of pupils in years 1 to 6, and reception pupils aged 5:

Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) • All pupils in reception and years 1 and 2 are eligible • Funded per newly eligible pupil (based on a rate of £2.30 per meal in 2014/15) • Paid on an academic year basis in two instalments (summer term 2014 and July 2015) • An additional sum is available for small schools

High needs top-up funding • Continues to be administered and paid by local authorities in 2015 to 2016 • Usually paid monthly Top-up to agreed level of need for high needs from commissioning LA Institutional contribution to first £6000 of additional needs Place funding in specialist setting £10,000 (increase in AP place funding subject to consultation) or Basic entitlement

  9. Basic needs growth funding • Supports growth in pre-16 pupil numbers to meet basic need • The local authority sets qualification criteria and amounts in consultation with the schools forum • Applies to maintained schools and academies (except academies funded on estimates)

  10. Falling rolls fund • Funding in advance of a temporary dip in population • Applies only to good or outstanding schools and academies • The schools forum agrees the criteria and is consulted on allocations • Mustrelate to local place planning

  11. Capital • Devolved Formula Capital (DFC) • Capital funding calculated on a formulaic basis • Based on the January census pupil count • Paid on a financial year basis in one instalment in the summer term • Academies Capital Maintenance Fund • Paid according to project needs
