  1. Teacher/Partner Impact Finish Task Information Specialist Self Start Program Administrator Further Study of the Transition from Teacher to School Librarian How have 6 school new librarians in Michigan progressed from the classroom after 3-4 years? How useful was their internship in this time? In 2005 and 2006, they experienced a definite transition period marked by the phases of the Concerns Based Adoption Model (CBAM)*. In 2009 and 2010, their backgrounds as teachers have given both benefits and barriers to their transition to the school library. Due to budget constraints, many school librarian positions have been cut, split between schools, or made into “special” classes like gym, art, and music. Some cohort participants chose to stay in the classroom; some chose to enter administration; some have experienced changes in the library In Next Steps, I will investigate the journeys of school library students in Florida and research the transfer of skills to teaching.
