  2. EXPERIENCE OF PRAYER

  3. This is the second part of our study on prayer. Last time we have discussed the ACT of prayer. • To experience prayer we must first establish our act. • We should have: a place of prayer a time for prayer consistency in prayer

  4. Question: WHO AMONG YOU HAVE TRIED TO ESTABLISH THIS ACT OF PRAYER? You can not experience prayer without doing so….

  5. The Experience of Prayer • We shall dwell on 3 important experiences while praying. • The Praise • The Communion • The Power

  6. The Praise • Worship, honor and praise God • Our God deserves all the glory, power and praise. • Honor and bless Him first. • Put a smile and joy in His heart in what He hears from you

  7. Psalms 149 • 1 Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song, And His praise in the congregation of the godly ones. • 2 Let Israel be glad in his Maker; Let the sons of Zion rejoice in their King. • 3 Let them praise His name with dancing; Let them sing praises to Him with timbrel and lyre.

  8. 4 For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the afflicted ones with salvation. • 5 Let the godly ones exult in glory; • Let them sing for joy on their beds. • 6a Let the high praises of God be in their mouth,

  9. The Communion • Communion means close association, unity, relationship. • This is a spiritual union and agreement. • We experience a change of the old self into a new spiritual man. When we pray we are able to know God’s ways and thoughts. • This realization changes everything inside us.

  10. PS 16:11 You will make known to me the path of life; • In Your presence is fullness of joy; • In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.

  11. JAS 4:7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. • 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

  12. What really happens at the presence with God when we pray? • 1. Before Heaven’s Throne • HEB 4:16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

  13. 2. Transformation • 2CO 3:16 but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. • 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. • 2CO 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

  14. When you pray let the Spirit of God transform you. • While praying He deals with our sins, • corrects our errors, • our mistakes • and then He comforts, uplifts, strengthens and encourages us.

  15. The Power • The Promise • JN 14:12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. • 13 “ Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. • 14 “If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.

  16. The Petition • Phil 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. • 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

  17. The Possibility • JER 33:2 “Thus says the LORD who made the earth, the LORD who formed it to establish it, the LORD is His name, • JER 33:3 ‘ Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

  18. MT 19:26 And looking at them Jesus said to them, “ With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

  19. Conclusion • Many things happen to us in the spiritual and in the natural when we pray. • Our Faith grows and strengthened. • We learn to trust God. • We see God moving and working. • God takes pleasure in our prayer of faith.

  20. We receive our reward. • Many lives are affected by our prayers. • Kingdoms are shaken. • Demons flee. Finally, You get closer to God and realize that He is a living, loving and answering Almighty God…

  21. So what is the experience of prayer? • After you have chosen your daily place and time of prayer, • You praise • You commune • You receive power.
