Italic letters in the Bible text show you the word or phrase being referenced. The same italic letter under the corresponding verse number in the center column leads you to verses for further study on the word, phrase, or theme. “See” in the center column leads you to Bible verses with more complete information or background information. For example compare note m on Matthew 1:11 or note b on Matthew 26:28.
