Navigation Acts • Passed in 1650… • This Act was pretty much for one reason….. • On this act, England directed the flow of goods. • To make certain that ONLY England got benefited from the trade with the colonies.
Proclamation of 1763 • Proclamation of 1763 was an attempt to keep colonist away from Appalachian Mountains. • This would not allow people to settle in Appalachian Mountains. • The king wanted to keep people out of there because the war. • After the war…it was said that he wanted peace with the remaining tribes, because of that colonist were not allowed to settle in that land.
Results: • The colonist were anger…upset!!! • They didn’t get the privileges that the land had to offer. • Also, some people already had land there and they were told to move!! • The king could only think of himself!!!! • Expansion made Appalachian mountains the western border for the colonies.
Sugar Act(1764) • This document was hoped to stop smuggling. • It lowered taxes on molasses imported by the colonists. • They wanted to stop smuggling and hoped that colonists…start to pay tax. • Colonists weren’t happy….they believe that once again British want to control everything.
Quartering Act(1765) • It was one of the Intolerable Acts. • This act was where it gave the right for soldiers to live with colonist. • Colonist had to supply their needs. • This included bedding, cooking utensils, firewood, beer or cider and candles • Colonist sure didn’t loved this Act.
Stamp Act • It was passed in 1765. • This the document where all printed material was tax. • Newspaper, pamphlets to the wills and even playing cards. • And of course the colonist were outrage!!
Declaratory Act • Passed in 17766. • There's not much to say about this act. • King George III, gave Parliament a lot of power. • Parliament had the right to tax and make all the decisions he want to… • I think the King was lazy!!
Townshend Acts(1767) • The Townshend Acts was designed to increase revenue, income, which would be use for: support colonial governors, judges, customs officers and the British army in America. • It taxed glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea! • (Am not sure how they thought it would make things better). • The reaction of the colonist was..the same; outrage, unhappy, and ready to burst out. • At the end it repelled all taxes…except on tea.
Intolerable Act • After, the Boston Tea Party…the king notice he was loosing control over the colonist. • He decide to pass the Coercive Acts, (Intolerable Acts). • They where harsh rules/laws. There where serious punishments for resistance.
Boston Massacre(1770) • Tense grew when redcoats stared living with colonist. • That one day a fight broke out. • Everyone found a way to attack…even throwing snowballs. • Than a shot was shouted and this event was sure to make the war even closer.
Tea Act/Boston Tea Party(1773) • Colonist were not happy with all the taxes that where applied. • They want to get the attention of the king. • Samuel Adams and the Sons of liberty dumped a large amount of tea. • It sure did catch the kings eyes. I can tell you things weren’t going to turn pretty….
