  1. DO NOW! Happy Thursday!10/3/2012 • What is a front? • Chris looks outside his window and sees a gray, featureless sky. What kind of clouds is he looking at? • Describe a Continental Polar air mass (moisture/temperature) • Draw the symbol for an occluded front. • What kind of weather does a tall cumulus cloud indicate?

  2. Activator Weatherman freaks out over “THUNDERSNOW” in Chicago 2 MINUTES - Think, Pair, Share: What unique weather phenomenon have you experienced? (Ex: Tornado, Hurricane, Blizzard, etc.)

  3. Today, you will get a chance to be weather forecasters! • Glue your “weather observation” ½ sheet into your notebook. • We are going to go OUTSIDE to observe the weather. • It is VERY important that you fill in all boxes of your guided note sheet.

  4. While we are outside… • Stay ON TASK. • Follow directions the FIRST time they are given. • Stay WITH the class. • Act right!!!!!!! Failure to follow these rules will result in an AUTOMATIC referral 

  5. When we return… • You will get in groups of NO MORE than 4 people. • You will be responsible for writing a DRAFT script of a weather forecast (one that is going to be on TV) • We will do peer revisions & start second-draft corrections today. • I will give you feedback on Monday.

  6. When we return… • You will make a final copy on Monday and we will begin video recording Monday as well. • Things to Note: • Not EVERYONE in your group has to be on camera, but everyone MUST participate on the final in some way (ex: cameraman, video editing, director, etc.)

  7. Timeline 10/4 – Record initial weather observations 10/4 – Begin first draft 10/4 – Peer feedback 10/8 – Teacher feedback & rubrics passed out 10/8 – Begin final draft (second draft if needed) 10/8 – 10/12 - Video recording & editing video 10/12 – 10/16 - Presentations

  8. In your script, you MUST have… • Air pressure • Temperature • Type of clouds • Sunny, Cloudy, Rainy, Windy, etc.
