CHORUS. How can students stay out of trouble this year?. Respect Chorus---If they wouldn’t do it in thei r other classes, they should not think they can do it in chorus. It is a class!! Your effort and attitude affect the group’s performance.

  2. How can students stay out of trouble this year? • Respect Chorus---If theywouldn’t do it in their other classes, they should notthink theycan do it in chorus. It is a class!! Your effort and attitude affect the group’s performance. • No Food, Gum, or drinks (other than water)- you can’t sing with something extra in your mouth. And the Music department would like to keep all our new rooms and equipment clean • Know how to come into class and how to treat the materials given to you.

  3. How do connections work? We are on a Block Schedule during connections Basically, studentswill either have French or this class everyday. Not both in one day. There are less days of class than other schools have so we need to work hard when we are here.

  4. Grades Developing Skills are 40% Performance assessments and rehearsal skills. Performance assessments can be individual or small groups in either singing or piano. Rehearsal skills include being prepared for class, actively involved in assigned task and posture. Knowledge and Understanding is 25% Classwork, Quizzes and Tests that assess information that a student’s knowledge and understanding of music notation and theory. Creative Projects are 20% Projects and class activities that focus on a student’s creative efforts. Personal Responses are 15% Peer Critiques, Self Assessments, Critiques and other work that demonstrate students ability to respond to a topic, historical / cultural relationships and personal reactions to performance in class and concerts.

  5. Concerts Winter Concert Dec. 8th LPGE (certain classes) March 16 or 17 Spring Concert May 11th Other special performanceswill be announced with as much notice as possible. Please make every effort to attend performances for your students

  6. Extra Performance Opportunities A few other performance opportunities for groups might include: Veteran’s Day Celebration (Nov. 11th)—6th grade Smyrna Tree Lighting (Early December)—select groups Multicultural Night (Feb 24th )—all groups Humanitarian Awards (Feb 27th)—select groups Talent Show (April 2nd )—open auditions in March Rising 6th grade night (April 28th)—select groups

  7. Uniforms Chorus polo shirt, Khaki pants, black shoes Chorus shirts will be ordered in early September. Cost is $10. ALL CHORUS MEMBERS NEED A CHORUS SHIRT!!!!

  8. BOYS ONLY CHORUS Tuesday Mornings at 8:15 All boys are encouraged to join us on Tuesday mornings to learn new music

  9. 8th Grade Disney Trip Informational Meeting Tuesday, August 26th at 7:00 in the band room. Parents of 8th grade students please attend if you would like more information.
