  6. This is the end of the phonics lesson for today. You will practice what you learned by doing Controlled R1 and Controlled R 2 worksheets.

  7. Adjectives Adjectives are words that describe. They give more information about nouns. They answer the questions: How many? What kind?

  8. Adjectives Adjectives often come before the nouns they describe. Five seals sat on the sunny beach. Five tells how many seals. Sunny tells what kind of beach.

  9. Adjectives Adjectives can also appear other places in the sentence. Therobot was helpful. Helpful tells what kind of robot. Thepackage is huge. Huge tells what kind of package.

  10. Adjectives Adjectives should help paint a picture of the noun it describes. On the next slide you will fill in the blank with an adjective that helps describe the noun.

  12. Adjectives Adjectives can be used to compare things that are similar. Add er to an adjective to compare two things. The big chair is harder than the small chair.

  13. Adjectives Add est to an adjective to compare three or more things. Papa Bear's bed is soft. Momma Bear's bed is softer. Baby Bear's bed is the softest.

  14. Adjectives For adjectives that end in e, just add r or st. nice nicer nicest close closer closest gentle gentler gentlest

  15. Adjectives For adjectives that end in a consonant and y, drop the y and add ier or iest. tiny tinier tiniest spicy spicier spiciest busy busier busiest
