  4. Milano is also very important to the Italian financial market because it is the home of la BorsaItaliana (the Italian Stock Market).

  5. Il duomo of Milano, or the cathedral, is the largest in all of Italy and the fifth largest in the world. It took almost six centuries to complete. Many people visit the roof, from which you can admire all of Milano from between the Gothic spires.

  6. Galleria VittorioEmanuele II is the oldest shopping mall in all of Italy. It was named in honor of the first king of Italy. It is often called Il salottodi Milano, or Milan’s living room because it is such a popular meeting place.Bifficaffè, one of the oldest and most famous caffè in Milano is there. In the center of the Galleria is a mosaic of the Coat of Arms of Turin. It is said that if you spin around on your right heel three times on the shield you will have good luck.

  7. In the church Santa Maria della Grazie is a painting of the Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci. It is a very iconic version of this scene and is famous both for the technique used by the artist as well as the execution of the image.

  9. Torino or Turin in English is called the “Cradle of Italian Liberty”.It has a six century old university and was the first capital of Italy. It is a major industrial city which ranks third in economic strength after Milan and Rome.

  10. Mole Antonelliana –Built in 1863, it is named after its architect, Alessandro Antonelli. Mole means large building. It was originally intended to be a synagogue and is now a museum. It dominate the Turin skyline.

  11. Universitàdi Torino – founded in 1404 it is one of the oldest universities in Europe.

  12. Shroud of Turin – is a linen cloth that bears the image of a man who has suffered injuries consistent with crucifixion. Many believe this is an image of Jesus Christ and it is houses in the Royal Chapel in the Cathedral of Turin.

  13. Adriano Celentano is the best selling Italian singer of all time. Born in Milano, he modeled himself after his idol, Elvis Presley. Here he is in 1967 singing “La coppiapiubella del mondo” with Mina. Enjoy.
