  2. Did You Know… The highest point in Africa is Mt. Kilimanjaro, which is in the Northern part of Tanzania.(5, 895 meters, 19, 340 ft.) In 1999 1.3 million People in Tanzania were living with AIDS. Only 2% of the Tanzanian population is over the age of 65 (2009 est. Lake Tanganyika in western Tanzania is the world’s second deepest lake. The remains of the earliest humans, including the 2 million year old Homo habilis were found in Tanzania

  3. Area: 364, 898 sq. miles Population: 41,048,532(growth rate of 2%) Life Expectancy: 51.98 Religions: 30-40% Muslim, 30-40% Christian, the remaining is a mix of others.

  4. Housing 153,264 have no more than two sleeping rooms in their homes. 68,326 have earth floors in their homes. 139,131 do not have electricity. 79,686 have homes made of mud-and-stick or sun-dried brick walls. 29,864 have non-durable roofs (like thatched-grass).

  6. Food Along the coast people eat rice and green vegetables or fish or meat is the most popular staple food. Beyond the coast line people eat cooked or steamed green bananas or maize and millet meal eaten with relish such as beans, fish or meat relish.

  7. Tanzanian Flag The green represents nature and agriculture activity in Tanzania. The fertility of the soil is also resembled in the green. The thick black stripe resembles the people of Tanzania. The blue in the flag represents the Indian Ocean, which along the coastline of the country. The final two thin yellow stripes along the black are a representation of the country’s mineral treasures.
