  8. Role – Play Player A : Good morning Sir. Can I help you? Player B : Yes, good morning. My name's Jansen Smith. How are you? Player A : I'm fine. My name's Brodie Chan. Nice to meet you. Player B : Nice to meet you too. I work for an office products retail chain in North America. Player A : Right, well, welcome to Hong Kong. Player B : Thank you. My chain of stores is the market leader but we're not as competitive as we'd like to be with fax machines.

  9. Player A : Okay, well we've just released our latest range of fax machines, and I think you'll find our quality is pretty hard to beat. Player B : Alright, well, show me what you've got. Player A : Well, over here is our flagship model. It's got all the latest features and it's incredibly well-made. Player B: Okay...and how is it different to last year's model? Player A : Well since last year, we've started to focus on quality control, and the result is that this model is much more reliable.

  10. Player B: Alright, well, show me what you've got. Player A: Well, over here is our flagship model. It's got all the latest features and it's incredibly well-made. Player B: Okay...and how is it different to last year's model? Player A : Well since last year, we've started to focus on quality control, and the result is that this model is much more reliable Player B : Well, quality is one thing, but what about after sales service? We like to deal with suppliers who won't leave customers out in the cold once they've paid their money.

  11. Player A : Of course. We offer a fantastic 24 hour support centre. We'll answer any questions your customers have got, anytime. Player B : Great. We have some pretty big problems with some of our suppliers. This all looks quite good. Player A : Good. So, when should we go for a round of golf? Player B : What? Player A : Well, we think a good business relationship is very important. Do you like golf?

  12. Player B : Well yeah, but... Player A : We like to get to know our customers, and build a solid foundation right from the start. Player B : Okay. That sounds great. We value a good business relationship too. Player A : Good. Player B : Our management team likes to have quarterly meetings with our partners. Player A : Is that usually face-to-face or by videoconference?

  13. Player B : By videoconference, usually. How does that suit your company? Player A : That'll be fine. Player B : In those meetings we can discuss business strategy, and make sure that our people are communicating well with each other. Player A : Maybe for the first quarterly meeting we could invite your management team to Hong Kong. We could present our vision for the future of office electronics. Player B : I think we'd be very interested in that.

  14. Player A : And then we could all go for a round of golf! Player B : Excellent! Sounds good to me. That will definitely help me sell the deal to our guys. Player A : Great! Maybe we should discuss it further this evening with a few drinks. Player B : Surely. I think I'm free tonight
