Earth Materials Lesson 31. In our last lesson we learned the Earth had four materials or resources called Earth Materials. These materials are:. Rocks. Air. Soil. Water. All four of these resources or materials come from the Earth. Rocks. Air. Soil. Water.

  1. Earth MaterialsLesson 31

  2. In our last lesson we learned the Earth had four materials or resources called Earth Materials.

  3. These materials are: Rocks Air Soil Water

  4. All four of these resources or materials come from the Earth. Rocks Air Soil Water

  5. Man made materials or resources are materials made by people. A house or a road is made by people, not made naturally by the Earth.

  6. These materials are called natural materials orresources. They are all found naturally on the Earth.

  7. Some of Earth Materials are solid. They are hard. Rocks are a good example of a solid earth material.

  8. Some Earth Materials are liquid. Liquids take the shape of the container they are in. Water is an example of a liquid Earth Material.

  9. Some Earth Materials are gases. You can not see gases. Air is an example of an Earth Material that is a gas.

  10. Some things are labeled living or non living.

  11. Plants and animals are alive. They are labeled Living Things.

  12. These four Earth Materials are not alive. They are labeled non living things.

  13. Earth Materials are used for building, growing plants, providing surfaces for walking or driving, and so much more.

  14. Earth materials also give us water and oxygen to help us live.

  15. Let’s figure out what Earth Material each picture represents. Use your definitions in your science notebook to help you.

  18. Rocks are natural materials. Rocks are solid and are non-living.

  20. That is right! This is the Earth Material water.

  21. Water is a natural material. Water is a liquidand is non-living.

  22. What Earth Material is this?

  23. That is right! This is a picture of different types of soils.

  24. Soil is a natural material. Soil is non-living.

  25. We can not see air. It is invisible. It is all around us.

  26. Air is a natural material. Air is a gasand is non-living.

  27. Air is made up of many different gases. The most important gas is oxygen. With out oxygen, people and animals would not be able to breathe.

  29. Today we learned about EarthMaterials.

  30. In our next lesson we will learn about how to describe the physical properties of Earth Materials.
