  5. Prescription Pills:a licensed medicine that is regulated by legislation to require a medical prescription before it can be obtained. The term distinguishes it from over-the-counter drugs because those can be obtained without a prescription

  6. Alcoholic Beverages:a liquor or brew that contains alcohol is a central nervous system depressant and in smaller amounts can appear to have a mild stimulant effect

  7. Effects of Alcohol Abuse

About 5,000 youth under the age of 21 die from motor vehicle accidents, other unintentional injuries, homicides, and suicides…all of which include alcohol consumption • 1,900- motor vehicle crashes • 1,600- homicides • 300- suicide • 200- unintentional injuries • More than 40% of children who tried alcohol before the age of 15 became alcoholics later in life Statistics

  9. Street Drugs:a substance that is purchased from a drug dealer; it can be a legal substance but being used for the wrong reasons and sold without a prescription; it can be illegal to posses
