  3. What is Linking Africa? Linking Africa is an African led global alliance for investment, trade and capacity building through the use of ICTs A single information standard by which all nations can view economic opportunities, examine the minutiae of distant markets and adopt world-best practice

  4. A complex puzzle Africa represents a complex puzzle. One-size solutions haven't worked in Africa's diverse economies. Individual country solutions are required within a standardised global framework.

  5. The Challenge Closing the development gap for Africa requires an informational infrastructure that delivers trusted, consistent and relevant business information. Such an infrastructure provides the base for myriad individual solutions to meet country, industry or enterprise needs.

  6. Informational Infrastructure The Linking Africa project databases will contain: • macro-economic information • micro-economic information • cross-border trade information • city and provincial economic and business information

  7. Country and provincial databases Country, provincial and city databases will deliver comprehensive, accurate and timely: • geographic and climate information • demographic information • cultural information • political / government information • investment climate information • financial information and services • business information and services • event information and services • support information and services

  8. Industry database content Industry databases will deliver comprehensive, accurate and timely information covering: • outlook • performance • participants • markets • industry segments • industry conditions

  10. Knowledge and information The Linking Africa projects will provide knowledge and information for: • multi- and bi-lateral organisations • governments and planners • bankers and financiers • investors • entrepreneurs, SMEs and larger businesses • traders and industrialists

  11. National benefits The Linking Africa projects’ informational infrastructure will support national economic development by producing dynamic private sectors with more: • Entrepreneurs • Enterprises • Employment

  12. Continent-wide benefits The Linking Africa projects will provide the informational infrastructure to promote commerce between Africa nations within the regions and across Africa

  13. Global benefits The Linking Africa projects will provide the informational infrastructure to promote and link Africa to global commerce and investment. Benefits will flow to Africa and to the global community.

  14. Project catalysts The role of the international organisations as project catalysts: • Engage and secure country participants • Lead multi and bilateral organizational support • Secure donor funding • Assist maximize corporate support

  15. Project scope & time line The Linking Africa programme aims, in the long term, to encompass all countries in Africa but with a regional focus. Each country project will take 18-24 months to deliver, with a full continent solution taking 7-10 years
