  1. From Death to Dancing 2 Samuel 6

  2. Guidelines for Difficult Passages • God is always right and just in everything He does. • Our understanding is often limited. • If we don’t understand something, it is because of our limited understanding. • Trust God and pray that you will eventually understand it.

  3. 2 Samuel 6:6-7 – But when they arrived at the threshing floor of Nacon, the oxen stumbled, and Uzzah reached out his hand and steadied the Ark of God. 7 Then the Lord's anger was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him dead because of this. So Uzzah died right there beside the Ark of God . . .

  4. 9 David was now afraid of the Lord, and he asked, "How can I ever bring the Ark of the Lord back into my care?" 10 So David decided not to move the Ark of the Lord into the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-edom of Gath.

  5. 2 Samuel 6:7 – The Lord's anger burned against Uzzah because of his irreverent act; therefore God struck him down and he died there beside the ark of God. (NIV)

  6. Proverbs 16:25 – There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. (NASB)

  7. Holiness Principle – Haggai 2 • If you take the bread from the Temple that had been set apart for God’s use and touch something common, would the common thing become holy? • Priest:No! Holiness is not contagious. • If you took the holy bread and touched something unclean? What would happen? • Priest:The holy thing would become unclean or profane. Sin is contagious.

  8. Romans 13:11-14 – This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here.

  9. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living. 13 Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see.

  10. Don't participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy. 14 Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don't let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires.

  14. God’s Way – Dancing 2 Sam 6:11-15 – Then King David was told, "The Lord has blessed Obed-edom's household and everything he has because of the Ark of God." So David went there and brought the Ark of God from the house of Obed-edom to the City of David with a great celebration. 13 After the men who were carrying the Ark of the Lord had gone six steps, David sacrificed a bull and a fattened calf.

  15. 14 And David danced before the Lord with all his might, wearing a priestly garment. 15 So David and all the people of Israel brought up the Ark of the Lord with shouts of joy and the blowing of rams' horns.

  16. Conclusion Who are you really serving? Jesus or the Flesh? Who are you responding to? Who is the Lord of your life?
