  6. WRITING THE ABSTRACT OR PROPOSAL • Get to the point • Limit words • Use your own words • Check grammar • Be clear • Provide keywords and key phrases

WRITING THE PROPOSAL : GUIDE QUESTIONS • Does it capture the interest of the reader? • Is it well written? • Does the paper tell the reader the content of the paper and why they should read it? • Does the abstract title describe the subject? • Is the statement of the topic and research question clear?

WRITING THE PROPOSAL : GUIDE QUESTIONS • Does the abstract indicate how the research was undertaken? • Does the abstract indicate the value of the findings and to whom they will be of use? • Does the abstract describe the work to be discussed in the paper? • Is a concise summary of findings presented? • Does it conform to the word limit, keywords, phrases?

  10. CALL FOR PAPERS: ASIA AND OCEANIA SECTIONTHEME: TRANSCENDING BORDERS: NATIONAL, SOCIAL AND ETHNIC ISSUES • Full abstracts (500 words) should be prepared following the template provided below. Each abstract will be blind reviewed by members of the Regional Standing Committee for Asia and Oceania. • Purpose of this paper What are the reason(s) for writing the paper (or the aims of the research)? • Theme How does it relate to the theme? • Design/methodology/approach How are the objectives achieved? Include the main method(s) used for the study. What is the approach to the topic, and what is the theoretical or subject scope of the paper? • Findings What was found in the course of the work? This will refer to analysis, discussion, or results. • Research limitations/implications (if applicable) If research is reported on in the paper, this section must be completed and should include suggestions for future research and any identified limitations in the research process. • Practical implications (if applicable) What outcomes and implications for practice, applications and consequences are identified? All papers should have practical applications. What changes to practice might be made as a result of this research/paper? • What is original/value of paper What is new in the paper?   15. PRESENTING YOUR PAPER • Length of talk • Practice • Familiarize yourself with the room • Equipment • Visual presentations • Be relaxed, maintain good posture, breathe deeply and quietly • Use you voice for projection and inflection. Pause. Use silence

  16. PRESENTING YOUR PAPER • Avoid distractions • Maintain eye contact • Adjust microphone • Speak slowly and clearly • Be conscious of the time limit
