  1. GLO1: Outline principles that define the Sociocultural level of analysis. By: Rogelio e Acosta & Reggie Adams.

Human beings are social animals and we have a basic need to “belong”. • Both the biological and cognitive levels take part in this principle, but for an overall interaction with other individuals. • Cliques in school are the easiest way to better understand this principle. • Clique – small, exclusive group, which consists of people with the same interests. • Being in a group, you have both the chance to be affected by the others or cause them to change in a way. • A change in clothing could be an example. • If you change your style of clothes, the others will want to do the same and vice versa.

  3. Culture influences behavior. Culture is the norms and values that define a society. Society – an organized group of people living together, a group of persons united by common interests. Both influence a person to be the way the are, through ways of speaking, gestures, clothing, etc. There is a theory called the Dual Inheritance Theory that states that, “culture is the primary cause of human behavioral variation”.   4. Since Humans are social animals, they have a social self. As human beings, we get extremely attached to the people in our society. The identities in people in our society have a big impact/effect on who we are. Some behaviours we encounter are also determined by the membership of groups like family, friends, community, etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSWN6Qj98Iw Clearly Kim Jong Il impacted everyone in his society to the point of having women, children, and grown men weeping hysterically due to his death.

  5. People’s view of the World are resistant to change. • The view of the World is a rational consensus of why it is the way it is. • How it is supposed to work. • Why it works the way it does. • What values are essential in the World community. • Culture helps us bring together the way the World should be. • Our communities create values which have been passed down from generations. • According to Psychologists, the sense of self is developed within social and cultural reasoning.
