  5. Brazil’s Population About 201,103,33 people live in Brazil In August of 2000 the population of Brazil was about 169,872,855 It is ranked 5th in population Annually it is growing at about 1.2% 27% of the people living in Brazil is younger than 15 years

  7. Ethnic makeup The white ethnic makeup group includes Portuguese, German, Italian, Spanish, and Polish 55% of the people living in Brazil are mixed black and white 38% of Brazilians are black 6% of them are considered other which include Japanese, Arab, Amerindian

  9. LANGUAGE The official language that is spoken in Brazil is Portuguese Portuguese is spoken (pronounced) a bit different than how spoken in Portugal They also speak English which is their 2nd language Spanish is also becoming popular to speak in Brazil

  19. Rites of passage Dating is started at about age 14 In traditional families the young man asks the girl’s dad for permission for the girl to be his girlfriend Dating and engagements last around 2 to 3 years People from Brazil used to get married young but now they get married around their 30s

  21. Sports/RECREATION Brazil’s national sport and passion of course is soccer Schools and jobs close during the world cup The sports basketball and volleyball are also common Traditional dances vary by region They celebrate any occasion and get together to dance samba and to sing
