  2. Purpose • To provide CLEC customers: • an understanding of Daily Usage Files (DUF) • the features and benefits of each file type • the data transmission delivery methods available • additional website references

  3. Intent • This package is designed for CLEC’s that offer Resale Services, Unbundled Network Element Platform (UNE-P) Services, and/or Wholesale Local Platform Services to the end user customer market place.

  4. Understanding the Daily Usage Files (DUF) Three Types of Daily Usage Files (DUF) • Access Daily Usage Files (ADUF) contains originating and terminating access carrier messages (including ICO, Wireless, Facility Based and IXC messages) associated with Unbundled Network Elements (UNE) switch ports • Optional Daily Usage Files (ODUF) contains end user billing records which can be used by the CLEC to bill its end users for directory assistance charges, vertical features (such as *69) and local usage for usage sensitive calling plans. NOTE: For Resale customer’s, flat rate local calls are omitted from this file. • Enhanced Optional Daily Usage Files (EODUF) provides the flat rated local calls originating from resold Flat Rate Business and Residential lines. NOTE: EODUF is only available for those CLECs who purchase ODUF.

Features and Benefits of ADUF ADUF provides the CLEC call detail on: • their end user’s originating and terminating calls carried by an Interexchange Carrier (IXC) • calls to their end users from other service providers such as: ICO, wireless and facility-based end users. This information will enable the CLEC to charge other providers (i.e., IXCs, Wireless providers, and facility-based CLECs) for messages carried on their network for their end user customer. NOTE: This holds true if an interconnection agreement exists between the CLEC and the other providers.

  6. Features and Benefits of ODUF ODUF provides the CLEC with: • Daily access to end user’s local billing data • Call data that the CLEC may use for marketing analysis • Call data to assist with fraud prevention. Daily access to end user’s data gives the CLEC the opportunity to review large volumes of usage data associated with a particular end user. It also provides an opportunity to establish specific end user limits on toll charges.

  7. Features and Benefits of EODUF Files EODUF provides the Resale CLEC with: Usage based products and helps the CLEC distinguish between the prepaid market and the flat rate market. • Data that will be provided to CLEC: • Date of Call • From Telephone Number • Connect Time • Conversation Time • Method of Recording – indicates whether customer-dialed or operator assisted • From Revenue Accounting Office (RAO) – identifies the end office responsible for billing the message • Rate Class – Identifies the field of the tariff used for rating the message (person, station, customer-dialed or operator handled) • Message Type – identifies the billing arrangement applicable to the transaction (sent-paid or collect) • Billing Indicators – Indicates whether the record is billable or not • Bill to Number – Indicates to whom the calls will be billed

Methods of Data Transmission • File Transmission Methods for ADUF include: • CONNECT:Direct • LAN-to-LAN • Dial-up • Secure FTP Mailbox • File Transmission Methods for ODUF and EODUF include: • Magnetic Tape – 3480 series cartridge • CONNECT:Direct • LAN-to-LAN • Dial-up • Secure FTP Mailbox NOTE: The CLEC must initiate a request with their Local Contract Manager to subscribe to one or all of the Daily Usage Files in order to receive them.

  9. Rates • There are no setup fees or non-recurring fees for this service • Recurring rates apply for message processing and data transmission • Consult your current Interconnection Agreement for the recurring rates and rate structure.
