  2. Welcome to Trigonometry/Summative Math! Teacher: Katie Conley DBHS website

  3. What am I getting myself into? • This course is UC approved. • You will not be allowed to go onto Calculus here at DBHS after passing this course. • However, you will have the skill set necessary to do well on the SAT IIc and the CA State Summative Math Exam. • You will be prepared for a beginning Calculus course in College.

  4. What do I need to know… • It requires content knowledge from Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 • There will be homework EVERY night. • Each chapter you will have 1 or 2 quizzes and 1 chapter test. • Grading policy; • 10%-Participation, 30%-Homework, 20%-quizzes, 40%-Tests/Midterms/Finals

  5. What do I need for this class… • A pencil WITH lead! • A non black pen for grading homework or making corrections. • Paper to take notes on. • Graphing paper is really nice, since we will be doing lots of graphing in this course. • I use a spiral notebook with graph paper • 3 Ring binder-to store old homework and quizzes • Calculator-A regular scientific calculator is all that is needed. • A positive attitude everyday!

  6. What does a typical day look like? • Come to class before the bell rings. • Grade even homework problems from the Smart Board. • Always check the odd problems in the back of the book as you do your homework. • Go over a couple HW questions. • Turn in HW • Begin lecture of new material. • Finish with checking for understanding/review questions.

  7. What are the class rules? • BE ONTIME!!!! • 3 free tardies, then 4th is a detention and begins disciplinary actions. • Be on task. • Be respectful. • Be prepared.

  8. How can I be successful in this class? • Homework and participation are worth 40% of your grade. • Attempt every problem and ask questions if you are lost during lecture. • Get help early!!! • Where? • My office hours-TBA • CSF peer tutoring-Room 232 • Math help • Be organized.
