  1. Everything you should know about Cerebral Palsy

  2.  Cerebral Palsy is a complicated disease and each patient suffers in a different, unique only to them. Simply put, cerebral palsy or CP is a condition where the control over the motor functions of a body is impaired or lost to some extent.  Its primary target is muscle coordination which in turn affects the overall movement of an individual. Occurring during the brain development phase of a child, CP is broadly considered as a neurological disorder.  The main cause of the problem is misinformation in the brain or some sort of non-progressive injury done to the brain.

  3. Symptoms The first and foremost symptom of Cerebral Palsy is physical impairment. The affected regions, limbs, the intensity varies from individual to individual. Entire limbs can be partially or fully affected and no two victims suffer the same list problem. This what makes this disease extremely unique and dangerous. The brains control on the muscles is reduced, causing them to contract or expand sporadically, without any prior notice. Many cases also show that the muscle contractions force the limbs into certain awkward positions that cause a lot of pain.

  4. Due to lack of muscle control, the overall posture of the body is also affected, along with the proper sense of balance. The body is unable to maintain balance and is succumbed to fall down at any time. Cerebral Palsy is: · Unique, in the sense that no two individuals face the same complications · Non-life threatening because only some part of the muscle is affected that can be repaired with physiotherapy. Only a handful of severe cases have ever been reported and most children go on to live a healthy adulthood.

  5. · Incurable since a part of the brain is affected which cannot be healed. Therapeutic treatment can improve the coordination to some extent, but will not be able to get the problem altogether. · Non-progressive, i.e., it will not spread to other parts of the brain, since it is a one-time injury. · Not contagious and cannot be passed on to others. · Manageable in many ways such as exercise, therapy, medication, surgery and assistive technology.

  6. People affected with Cerebral Palsy require assistance and are considered to be people with special needs. They are just impaired to some extent and are completely healthy otherwise. The word “sp??ial n???s” only refer to assistance in terms of movement only and not in any other way. Content Designed By : kidsorthopedic.com
