    4. BTs Structure Software and systems play an increasingly critical role in the operation of our networks and products. Software control offers the opportunity to do things faster and more efficiently; to reduce time to market and eliminate duplication and reduce costs. That is why to help exploit these advantages fully, BT recently created two new units, BT Design and BT Operate so we can more closely align our IT and networks operations globally. These new units have drawn their resources from network and IT people previously located in BT Wholesale, One-IT, Global Services and BT Retail. BT Wholesale now becomes a market unit, like Retail and Global Services, focussing on the huge and growing wholesale market, working as a strategic partner to our communications providers to enable them to develop new and compelling consumer products. This is a critical market sector for BT's future which we have grown into the largest and most successful wholesale business in Europe.Software and systems play an increasingly critical role in the operation of our networks and products.
