  2. Malta to Rome – Acts 28Introduction & Review True Christianity is not based on avoiding problems, but on the nature & work of God Salvation is from sin to righteousness We still suffer from the sin of others, our sin, & living in a sin affected world

  4. The Kindness of the NativesActs 28:1-2 Malta was under Roman control Malta was settled by Phoenicians. Its name means “place of refuge” The natives showed “extraordinary kindness” God has placed His law on the conscience of all people

  5. The State of Natural Man The Immoral Unrighteous – Rom. 1:20-32 Obviously evil The Moral Unrighteous – Rom. 2:1-16 Nice, but they violate their own standards The Religious Unrighteous – Rom. 2:17-29 They violate their own religious codes All people need a savior (Rom. 3:9-11)

  6. Paul & the ViperActs 28:3-6 Paul was bitten by a viper (echidna) Paul humbly helping with menial tasks We are to be humble servants like Jesus – Mark 10:45; John 13:5; Philippians 2:5f Current extinction does not preclude prior existence Luke would have recognized a viper

  7. Expectation of DeathActs 28:4-6 The natives expect Paul to die They concluded their god of Justice was simply carrying out his work

  10. Hospitality of PubliusActs 28:7 Publius was probably the Roman governor. He cared for all 276 shipwreck victims while arrangements for winter quarters were made

  11. Paul’s Healing MinistryActs 28:8-9 He healed Publius’ father from Brucellosis & dysentery – vs. 8 He healed all who came – vs. 9 Paul healed completely without regard of the faith of the person People who claim the gift of apostolic healing today are false

  12. Honored by the NativesActs 28:10 Their response demonstrates the effect Paul had on them They were honored in many ways including provision for their needs

  13. From Malta to RomeActs 28:11-14 After 3 months they departed Malta on an Alexandrian ship
