  3. What’s the News? 5 minutes, Green goes first (today’s table leader) Introduce yourself Table leader then clockwise (watch the timer-make sure everyone has a chance to share) Discussing the new Best table discussion gets dismissed first!

  5. What will you learn in here? • “Spatialize” everything you see • Make connections between seemingly disparate items • Speculate about the questions of “where?” “why there” and “why care?” • Current Events (and apply them spatially)

Materials do I need? • Box of tissues for the classroom (please write your name on the bottom) • Index Cards (you will need at least 5 packs, but not all at once) • Colored Pencils • Blue and Black Ink Pens (for mapping) • Sandwich size baggies and Sharpie to write on the baggies - one box • ½ inch binder (end of the year for Atlas - you will get back) • Pencils, notebook paper, red pens as needed • Mandatory: Planner - I have noticed that students who keep planners do better in my class - so you must bring a planner and write in it as we go over announcements each day!

How is the class run? • Bell to Bell • Student material area and homework turn in area • Desk Cleared and only notecards out at the bell (you’ll learn which ones soon) • I prefer you not to get up (distracting) • Participation Points • Current Events • Vocab • Lesson • PRE-AP: ONE HOUR OF HOMEWORK PER NIGHT. PERIOD.

What are the Rules and Consequences? • Follow directions • Be respectful of each other and me and the substitute teachers* • Work hard • Enter quietly, straight to seat, and be ready to BEGIN at bell. • No phones out without permission (never for texting or non-geography games) Warning, refocus, referral*
