So you never should put any hesitation while buying it and bring it to your home. Eating seafood is quite easy and a fun task for everyone who loves seafood. Even cooking seafood is fun, but the main challenge is storing seafood. People find it tough that is why many of them never dare to bring it home and cook by self, although they want to but they can’t help it. Well, wholesalers and retailers better know how to keep it frozen because frozen seafood is only the freshest seafood. Because they have all those huge refrigerator and storing racks. As they are the sellers, so they have to keep it fresh and handle huge amount of seafood items. But for you too, storing is not impossible as you just need to put little effort on it. Before taking seafood to your own kitchen you should determine the freshness of seafood. - Keep in mind whenever you touch or smell, it should smell like sea breeze and it should give you the hint of seaweed and if it smells little fishy reject it on the spot. Because, leaving seafood for more than 2 or 3 days is useless as only reduces the freshness of the food material with no nutrition left in it. And, without nutritional value eating a seafood is not helpful and can be hazardous to health. Therefore, it is important to check the label on the seafood packet before buying it from the retailer. A seafood or any other food product should be consumed within expiry date. - Some refrigerated seafood may have time/temperature indicators on their packaging which shows if the product has been stored at proper temperature. Always check the indicators when they are present and only buy the seafood if the indicators shows that product is safe to eat. Here you can get all ideas about how you can store your seafood, fresh and fine at home- - While bringing seafood from the supermarket to home for that duration, try to hold it in an insulated bag so that it can’t get into the temperature outside till you reach home.

So that it can maintain its coolness and freshness. - Do not try to store mussels/ clams in cold water or in saline water instead store them on the ice bed mix in with some smaller ice cube between the shells. - After placing seafood in the refrigerator overnight, then thaw seafood gradually and if you have to thaw seafood quickly, seal it in a plastic bag and immerse it in cold water. - At the time of cooking, it should be cooked at an internal temperature of 145 degrees F or to know that seafood is cooked check whether the flesh are opaque and can be separate easily with fork. - Try to avoid eating those seafood which has a strong smell of ammonia after it cooked or while raw.

  4. - Never leave cooked seafood outside refrigerator after 1 hour as bacteria can grow quickly at warm temperature up to 40 degrees - At the time of partying, try to separate hot seafood and cold seafood at the time of serving.
