  1. Pittman Elementary Service Design K-5th L.C. Smith Elementary All students that are identified gifted and talented are grouped homogenously within the class. The GT certified teacher meets the needs of the students by: Extending ideas to specific outcomes Researching on topics utilizing the internet, resources from the library and through personal interviews. Extended projects- class and home projects (arts/crafts/language arts) Taught the skill of communication (classroom presentation to their peers) Promote leadership roles- UIL, student council , science club, etc. Promote community services- activities in which students volunteer in our community Promote Dukes University Talent Search. (4th & 5th grade) Differentiated Instruction Centers to enhance enrichment (1st & 2nd grade) * GT teachers have 30 hour initial training and a minimum 6 hour update training every year.

  2. Myra Green Middle School All Identified G/T Students are enrolled in Pre-AP core classes: ELA Math Science Social Studies

Expectations of Students enrolled in Pre-AP courses *Courses are advanced and rigorous to prepare students for AP classes in High School *Require independent work (in classroom) *Require extra outside reading and *Require Independent research and study (0utside classroom) *Students are monitored every six weeks
