  3. I AM... “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” [ John 8:12 ] [Jesus] All throughout the Bible... God is called ‘light’ Acts 26:17-18 “...I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God...” Darkness cannot exist on its own A lie cannot exist on its own Satan is not equal to God

Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” [ John 8:12 ] [Jesus] Number One The Law John 8:2-3 “At dawn Jesus appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered round him, and he sat down to teach them. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group” This woman is guilty

Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” [ John 8:12 ] [Jesus] Number One The Law John 10:5-6 “In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?’They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.” This woman is guilty The law reveals our guilt Until we see ourselves as sinners... we will not see our need for a Saviour

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger.” • ‘graphein’ – γράφω • to write down • ‘katagraphein’ – κατάγράφω • to write a description

Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” [ John 8:12 ] [Jesus] Number Two The Love John 8:7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, ‘Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.’ • ‘graphein’ – γράφω • to write down • ‘katagraphein’ – κατάγράφω • to write a description • ‘without sin’ = ἀναμάρτητος • ‘without even wanting to sin’ • The focus is not on the outward, but on the inward – the heart

Has no one condemned you?’No one, sir,’ she said. 'Then neither do I condemn you,’ Jesus declared. ‘Go now and leave your life of sin.’ There is an accuser, whose name is Satan The accuser, is not the voice of the Saviour For there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.(Romans 8:1)

Light always overtakes darkness

Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” [ John 8:12 ] [Jesus] Number Three The Light John 8:11-12 ‘Go now and leave your life of sin.’ When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’ The light reveals our hope When Jesus becomes the light of your world – that changes everything! Darkness never defeats light
