  2. To form the possessive of a singular noun, add an apostrophe and ’s • teacher’s idea • Charles’s bike • dog’s bone • child’s imagination • cat’s toy

  3. To form the possessive of a plural noun that ends in s, simply add an apostrophe after the s. • jockeys’ horses • families’ homes • farmers’ crops • cities’ problems • directors’ awards

  4. To form the possessive of a plural noun that does not end in s, add an apostrophe and an s. • children’s museum • women’s basketball • deer’s enemies • oxen’s yoke • geese’s flight

  5. Singular noun that shows possession • The monster was created in the (scientist’s) lab.

  6. Plural nouns that show possession • The (buildings’) colors were beautiful.
