HOW NOT TO GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT Ephesians 4:17-19 17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 having their understanding darkened, being alienatedfrom the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; 19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.(NKJV)

  5. HOW NOT TO GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT Ephesians 4:25-32 I. By Stop Lying and Start Telling the Truth (v.25). A. As Believers, We are to Do Away with Lying. B. As Believers, we are to Always Speak Truthfully. Zech.8:16-18 C. As Believers, we are Members of One Another.

  6. HOW NOT TO GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT Ephesians 4:25-32 II. By Stop Angry and Start Forgiving (vv.26-27, 32b). • As Believers, we should have no Room for Misplaced Anger. Ps.4:4 B. As Believers, we should always Resolve Angry Feelings. .

  7. HOW NOT TO GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT Ephesians 4:25-32 III. By Stop Stealing and Start Working (v.28). A. Believers are not to be Thieves. Titus 2:9-10 , John 10:10 B. Believers are to Work for a Reason. Psalm 128:2 .

  8. HOW NOT TO GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT Ephesians 4:25-32 IV. By Stop Corrupting and Start Edifying (vv.29-32). • A. Believers are not to Corrupt Others (v.29a, 31). • B. Believers are to Edify Others (v.29a, 32). .

  9. HOW NOT TO GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT Conclusion : • The Holy Spirit is listening. • How does He feel about what’s going on in your life right now? Is He happy or grieved? • Is He weeping over our lies, unresolved anger, dishonesty and corrupt language? • Are you living more like a believer or an unbeliever? • Are you quenching His powerful work in your life? .

  10. HOW NOT TO GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT Conclusion : God's desire is for the believer in Christ to live differently than before coming to faith in Christ. Doing so brings God joy and will not quench or grieve the Spirit of God who lives within those who believe. .
