  3. Achieving and Reporting MDG in Viet Nam • Implemented right after the commitment in 2000 • Approach of Viet Nam • National Reports • 2005, 2008, 2010, 2013 • Final Report of 2015 being under development • PM Decision 1755/QD-TTg in 2013 • Roles of stakeholders

Key results • Goals achieved and maintained • Poverty Reduction: 9,6% (2012), 6% (est., 2014); • Universal Primary Education: 97,7% (2012) • Gender equality • Health-related Goals are very likely to be achieved • Government Resolution 05/NQ-CP • Goals on Sustainable Environment and International Partnership are obtaining improvements.

  5. Major Challenges • Capability to maintain achieved goals • Impacts of Global Climate Change • Impacts of negative economic changes • Resources: • Domestic resources • External resources • Inequality • Of which: inequality among ethnic groups

  6. Direction for 2015 and Post 2015 • 2015: • Final MDG Report (expected progress and procedure) • A shift to the next period, enhancing mainstreaming into SEDP (e.g. ethnic minority issues) • Post 2015: • Actively participation in establishing the Post 2015 Development Agenda • Key approach: mainstreaming into national plans/strategies, together with focused directions and solutions for implementation.
