Overview • The presentation gives a brief review of some key achievements by the INOGATE projects in Belarus and the Eastern Europe region in their 2009/2010 Work Programme, grouped according to the key ‘road map’ objectives These are just some of the outputs; they are a sample of the work in progress of the INOGATE programme as a whole

Priority area #1Market Convergence • Project: “Harmonisation of gas and oil technical standards and practices in Eastern Europe and Caucasus”(ongoing) • Establishment of working groups and technical committees • Three inter-regional meetings held • Translations commenced of international standards Project: “Support to Energy Market Integration and Sustainable Energy in NIS (SEMISE)”(ongoing) • As per presentation Project “Capacity Building of Energy Regulators in Eastern Europe and Central Asia” (ongoing) • Training and ‘peer review’ process

Priority area #2Energy Security • Project: “Safety and security of main gas transit infrastructure” (ongoing) • identified European methodology and practices for estimation of gaslosses (Marcogaz) • collected data on methodologies and practices for estimation of gaslosses • Introduction of principles of Pipeline Integrated Management System (PIMS) • Training needs analysis conducted for participating countries • Main reason for disruption of the main pipelines established (corrosion , ground movement & third party intrusion)

Priority area #3Renewable Energy/Energy Efficiency • Project: “Support to Kyoto Protocol Implementation (SKPI)” (ongoing) • Web portal for EE experts established • First Clean Development Mechanism Training conducted • Primer on Legal Status of carboncontracting prepared • First adaptation training workshop conducted • KP/UNFCCC* Primer completed and disseminated (Kyoto Protocol terms in Russian and in English) *United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change

  6. Priority area #4Investment Attraction • Project: ‘Support to Energy Market Integration and Sustainable Energy in NIS (SEMISE)’ (ongoing) • As per presentation

  7. INOGATE Annual Report • The first INOGATE Annual Report, covering the year 2009, will be published early in 2010 and will contain details of the INOGATE Programme’s activities and principal achievements.
