  5. What strands of geography influence your topic? • Does geography influence education? How? • Does the history of the country influence education? How? • Does the government influence education? How? • Does the economics of the country influence education? How? • Does daily life, religion, social groups (behavioral science) influence education? How? Background Knowledge • Afghanistan is a landlocked country located in central Asia. • Decades of war and drought have devastated the cities and surrounding lands. • Many schools were destroyed but children, boys and girls, still try to attend when and where they can. • Afghanistan is currently a democracy with a president and two vice presidents, but they still have issues with the Taliban and civil wars.
