  1. Eyelid Lift Surgery – Different Reasons for Different Patients Eyelid lift surgery, also referred to as eye bag surgery or eyelid surgery – or as blepharoplasty to use a medical term – is popular for different reasons. Blepharoplasty inLondon, for example, is performed in different locales every day, and qualified oculoplastic/eye surgeons attend to these procedures. There are different reasons for having this – relatively straight-forward - process done, as long as you approach an eye surgeon with the knowledge and preferably years of experience. Different clients or patients approach the surgeon for different reasons because they have different needs. For some it may be for practical or medical reasons whereas others are interested in the procedure – a very small operation really – for aesthetical reasons, in other words because the procedure will improve their appearance and make the area around the eye look much younger again. A blepharoplasty in London is therefore the eyelid surgery that targets either the upper lid or lower one, and now again a patient that needs attention to both. It is likely that the surgeon will perform two separate procedures on this patient, even though individual circumstances may differ. In cases where a patient’s peripheral vision is interfered with, such as when an eyelid hangs over the eye lashes, the procedure may become necessary to correct this situation or irritation. This is often referred to as a droopy eyelid. The procedure for the lower lid is referred to as a procedure to treat the so-called baggy eyelid. A blepharoplasty in Londonis therefore performed either as a medical, corrective procedure or for aesthetic reasons. In both cases the procedure involves

  2. the removal of fatty deposits that gather in the lids over time, with age. Of course this is also true for loose skin in the area around the eyes and the lids. It also happens that not only fat collects in the lid, but that the small muscles in the area get damaged or become slack with the years. This can then lead to the droopy or baggy lid. It is a procedure that involves cost, but for many it is worth it to have the blepharoplasty in London done since the new, younger and fresher look can do wonders for one’s self-confidence and sense of self-worth – even if certain medical insurances do not pay for it. LOWER LID – BAGGY EYELIDS The most common of the two procedures is the one done on the lower lid, the baggy eyelid procedure. The procedure, when done by an experienced eye surgeon does not take long and involves little more than having an incision made on the inside of the lid to remove excess fat and tissue. It does not take long at all and no scars are visible afterwards. At times this is done by making a tiny incision during the blepharoplasty in Londonjust below one’s lash line to remove the excess matter. UPPER LID – DROOPY EYELIDS In this case heavy, drooping upper eyelids are treated in much the same way by making an incision in the crease of the lid to remove fat, skin and unwanted tissue. This will then help to remove the irritation to the eye area and correct the bad vision caused by the droopy lid. Because this is a relative quick procedure, patients are often treated on an outpatient basis at the surgeon’s rooms where they receive a local anaesthetic, sedative or, at times, general anaesthesia. Patients leave after the blepharoplasty in London with care instructions from their surgeon and the necessarypain medication and antibiotics to help them recover quickly. They are normally advised to wear sunglasses to keep bright light and wind out of the eyes for some time, as well as keeping the area clean and using the ointments that are prescribed. Finding a great surgeon for your procedure, if you live in a big city such as London, is not that difficult. Also, consult the internet – the best surgeons advertise their services on the net.
