  2. Primary Sources are documents or objects created during a specific time period. They provide first-hand accounts of a historical event, experience, or person. • Examples: • Autobiography • Work of art • Personal diary, journal, or letters • Poem, novel, short story, or manuscript • Play, film, or performance • Speech, legal document, or constitutional amendment

  3. Secondary Sources analyze, interpret, or criticize the primary source. Secondary sources examine why an event, person, or experience is significant. • Examples: • Biography • Critic’s review • Literary criticism • Newspaper article about a time period • Commentary of a speech • Play, Film, or performance re-enacting event or time period
