Sunshine State Education and Research Computing Alliance • What SSERCA is: • An alliance of 6 universities: FSU, UCF, UF, UM, USF, FAMU • What SSERCA does: • Provides the interface between researchers and cyberinfrastructure • Leverages the research activities and expertise at each institution and national projects • Serves as a vehicle for collaboration • SSERCA is approaching its one year anniversary • SSERCA is actively growing to include new members

  3. SSERCA Motivation • Florida’s Universities are home to a wealth of world-class resources • Talented scientists • High-end computing facilities • Massive data storage systems • Specialized research instruments • High-speed state-wide network (FLR)

  4. SSERCA Motivation Organize assets in such a way that their collective impact is greater than the sum of their individual parts.

  5. SSERCA Goals Build and leverage cyberinfrastructure for research across public and private Universities within Florida Provide researchers with access to advanced computational and data services & expertise Collaborate effectively for federal funding opportunities
