  1. Blog: Pasautoschool.com DIFFERENT COURSES FOR LEARNING HOW TO DRIVE In this day and age where driving has become a basic survival skill, learning it becomes essential. The growing number of vehicles on the street necessitates learning to drive properly. Learning driving and obtaining a proper drivers’ license could begin as early as in one’s teenage years. Pre-Licensing Course A Pre-Licensing Course is taken before the actual driving lesson is taken. The course certificate is issued by a commercial driving school to an individual who has taken a DMV approved 5 hour Pre licensing course. While this certificate can be obtained individually, the best way would be to approach a driving school to get this certificate before the driver’s license can be obtained. The Defensive Driving Course According to Safe Practices for Motor Vehicle Operations, ANSI/ASSE Z15.1, defensive driving skill is the practice of driving to save lives, time and money, in spite of the conditions around you and the actions of others. It is a form of training for motor vehicle drivers that goes beyond the mastery of the rules of the road and the basic mechanics of driving. The aim of this practice is to reduce the risk of collision by anticipating dangerous situations, despite adverse conditions or the mistakes of others. This can be achieved through adherence to a variety of general guidelines and a few rules. Most driving schools teach this as part of their program and learning this makes one a safe and a responsible driver. There are many driving schools available in Westchester and New York that offer Pre – Licensing classes and Defensive Driving courses and also guide in obtaining a drivers’ license, like the PAS Auto School.
