Main Purpose and Activities of Role • To be a link between your class, the students’ association and staff. • To attend Student Representative Council meetings (five per session) and provide feedback from this to your class. • Attend Liaison Panel meetings, gathering the student view beforehand and providing feedback afterwards to your class and to the association. Experience, skills and interest required. • A willingness to talk to your classmates about course issues and to take them to your course tutor. • The ability to communicate constructively. • A willingness to attend training to learn appropriate skills. Time Commitment • Student Representative Council (SRC) meetings are held once in September, October, January, March and May during lunch time. • Student Liaison Panel meetings take place around three times a year about every three months.   5. Time Commitment • These meetings plus informal communication with staff and classmates mean that the role will take up a minimum of one hour a month.   6. How to get the position • There are two representatives required for each class, who are nominated by class members or you can put yourself forward. If required there will be an election held in class with the assistance of your class tutor. Travel First Class with Banff & Buchan College Student Learning Experience

  7. Who do you work with? • You will work with the Student Services Officer and other student representatives primarily, but you will also work with other staff members such as college management and staff members of your Liaison Panel and of course your tutors and classmates.   8. Support in the role • The Student Services Officer works with student representatives and will be the main source of help and advice. You will also receive support from the students’ association officers and other staff in the college such as your tutors and college management • Training is provided by sparqs (student participation in quality Scotland) at the start of the year, to help you understand your role.   9. What you can get out of it • If you attend three out of the five SRC meetings and the training at the start of the year, you will receive a certificate showing your fulfilment of the role. What you can get out of it • Development of skills such as confidence, time management, organisational skills and responsibility • A sense of satisfaction and achievement from the work you have done. • Build new friendships. What can it lead to • The opportunity to become an association officer and sit on college committees with staff and management. • A greater understanding of your course and the college. • Possible improved job prospects because you can put the role on your CV.
