Career Tech Academy • 600 student academy • 4 unique mini academies 150 students each • Governed by superintendent of the Division of Adult and Career Education • Administered by principal of the occupational center • Academic program will be supervised by the assistant principal of secondary education

Students in health occupations must complete: • Clinical/internship hours • Sites in hospitals, doctor’s offices, pharmacies, insurance, or ambulance companies • Pathways that lead to viable employment at the time of high school graduation • Licensing requirements • Articulation with community colleges for entrance into registered nursing, pharmacology, and physician assistant programs

Construction trades career pathway: • Computer Assisted Drafter/Mechanical and Architectural (240) • Construction Worker/Pre-apprentice (300) • Drafter (500) • Landscaper/Design, Layout and Construction(1200) • Construction Worker/Construction Remodel (1200) • Articulation with Pierce college for landscaping and drafting programs

  29. High school students have several options in the “NATEF Certified” Automotive Technician Career Academy, offered at West Valley Occupational Center.

  30. If a student wishes to start a career with an automotive dealership, their pathway could be: • The Automotive Youth Education System (AYES) Program • Has partnerships with local automotive dealers • Students start the program when they enter the 11th grade

  31. Automotive careers pathway: • Automotive Technician (130) • Brakes/Steering and Suspension • Engine Performance • Electrical • Smog • Automotive Body Repair Technician (130) • Automotive Body Repair Estimator (120)

Automotive Training Program, is a “NATEF Certified” (National Automotive Technician Education Foundation) program. • Automotive Youth Education System (AYES) Program is a two year apprenticeship. • All pathways lead to viable employment at the time of graduation. • Articulation with Pierce college leads to AA Degree.
