Brazil • A multicultural and multiethnic society formed from native Americans, Portuguese, Africans, Italian, German, Spanish, Arab and Japanese immigrants. • The religion of most Brazilians is Catholicism and it has the largest Catholic population in the world. • Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, an annual celebration held forty days before Easter, is one of the world’s major tourist attractions for the elaborated parades staged by the city’s major samba schools in the Sambadrome. • Brazil traditional music is Samba. • The Brazilian national male volleyball team has won, in 1992 and 2004, in the Olympics tournament. • Internationally, the Brazilian national soccer team is very popular and has won FIFA World Cup tournament a record five times, in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002. Brazil has produced the world's most famous football star; Pelé.
