What happens to your purchasing request? • If the purchase is covered by an existing contract, the order is written. • < $5,000 – The buyer has the option to obtain only one quote. • $5K to $50K – The state requires at least 3 bids. • > $50K – The state requires at least 6 bids. • If it is a legitimate sole source purchase (only one supplier) we will process the appropriate paperwork and place an order.

  11. Virginia Tech Microsoft Contracts • Select Contract • “Pay as you use” agreement. Departments purchase products from ITA and ITA pays Microsoft at the end of the month. • Wide variety of products available at reasonable prices. • Used by the majority of departments to purchase Microsoft products.

Virginia Tech Microsoft Contracts • Campus Agreement Contract • Predetermined list of products available for one annual cost per department or college. • Microsoft Office XP Professional (Product suite of Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access) • Microsoft FrontPage 2002 (Office web site creation and management solution) • Microsoft O/S upgrades • Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 Professional (VB, C++, J++, FoxPro, InterDev, MSDNL) • Microsoft Project 2000 • Microsoft BackOffice CAL

  13. Virginia Tech Microsoft Contracts • Campus Agreement Contract • Used by Engineering, Computer Science and Building Construction to license their faculty, staff, labs, and students.

  14. Virginia Tech Microsoft Contracts • Campus Agreement Contract • Costs • ~ $50/staff or faculty member • ~ $25/student • You must annually license your entire department faculty and staff; student licensing is optional.

  15. Virginia Tech Microsoft Contracts • Campus Agreement Contract • Costs • If you decide to cancel this license, you must pay ½ your total department license fee and you lose your right to Campus Agreement software. • You must purchase new Microsoft licenses for products you still need to use.
