Geograficzne centrum Europy • Zaszczyt posiadania geograficznego centrum Europy przypisuje sobie kilka państw europejskich, jednak według obliczeń Francuskiego Narodowego Instytutu Geograficznego właściwy środek Europy znajduje się na Litwie. Fakt ten został zarejestrowany w Księdze Rekordów Guinnessa • W 1989 r. naukowcy z Francuskiego Narodowego Instytutu Geograficznego ustalili, iż centrum znajduje się w odległości 26 km na północ od Wilna, w pobliżu wsi Purnuszki (Purnuškiai)
