  3. Rotary Youth Exchange Certification

  4. RI Board Decision (Feb 06) • Reaffirms the district certification program set forth in Board decision 108, November 2004; • Reaffirms that the policy allows for local variation that maintain intent of guidelines; • Provides for provisional certification

  5. Certification Application • Contains all requirements for certification • Four required elements: • Completed Application • Youth Protection Policy • Incorporation • Insurance • Allows for local variation

Certification Application • Completed Application: • Completed checklist & original signatures OR • Explanation and proposed alternatives for any items not checked & original signatures OR • Explanation of progress toward meeting requirements, expected timeline for completion, & original signatures

  7. Certification Application • Youth Protection Policy: • Sample District Abuse and Harassment Prevention Policy (including appendices) • Contains all required elements • An example only • Districts may choose to create their own policy that maintains intent of guidelines

Certification Application • Incorporation: • Requirement can be met by: • Youth Exchange program incorporation (or incorporation of youth programs) • District incorporation (RCOP 17.020) • Multidistrict incorporation • Contact RI Club and District Support for guidance on district incorporation

  9. Certification Application • Insurance • U.S. Rotary Club & District General Liability Program • Cross-border districts will need to obtain separate insurance covering Youth Exchange activity of clubs located outside of U.S. • RI Risk Management: insurance@rotary.org

  10. Certification Review • Certified District • Implemented all requirements for certification as stated on application OR • Implemented all requirements for certification by enacting alternatives that maintain intent of policy • Provisionally Certified District • Is working toward full certification AND has informed RI of progress by sending a certification application by 1 July 2006 • Non-Certified District • No application by 1 July 2006 OR • Incomplete application and unresponsive to RI requests for more information

  11. Certification Timeline • 24 March 2006: • Deadline to send applications to RI to ensure full review by 30 June • 1 June 2006: • Deadline for RI to receive applications in order to be listed in July directory • 1 July 2006: • Final deadline for 2006 certification / provisional status • 30 June 2007: • Final deadline to achieve full certification
