This week we will be soaring over the Northern Territories as we begin Passport: Round-Trip to Health! Week 1 1. Drink Water 4. Try a New Health Activity 2. Make Attainable Goals 5. Celebrate Your Success 3. Create a Buddy System 6. Discover Canada’s easternmost province of Newfoundland & Labrador is a popular destination for tourists and residents alike who share a passion for hunting and fishing. Fish is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, which can help lower blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Aim for at least 2 servings of fish each week as part of your healthy diet. CANADA Scotland brings to mind whirling kilted dancers performing the Highland Fling and rolling green hills with the shouts (Fore!) of golfers ringing in the air. SCOTLAND Russia is one of the great homes of classic ballet, and during the period of Communism, St. Petersburg’s Kirov Ballet was among the most famous in the world. All forms of dance are great exercise! Swimming is a perfect form of low-impact exercise, no matter the weather. In fact, tourists and natives of Iceland are able to swim year round. Iceland is located on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, a hot spot for geothermal activity. Even in a snowfall the steam warms outdoor pools and lagoons to a balmy, bathwater temperature of 84 degrees! RUSSIA Sisimiut, a village on Greenland’s west coast, hosts an the annual Arctic Circle Race - the world’s most difficult cross-country skiing competition. Cross-country skiing is a full body workout, burning 500-700 calories an hour! ICELAND FINLAND Potatoes, which are commonly associated with the Irish and The Great Famine of 1945-1950, are a great source of vitamins C and B-6, folate, potassium, and fiber! IRELAND Regular cycling can dramatically improve your overall state of health. The King’s Road, Finland’s first official tourist trail, continues to link Russia and China to the European countries of the West, as it did in the 14th century. GREENLAND
