  2. Shanghai 上海 • Shanghai is located on an estuary of the Yangtze River. • Shanghai is the largest city in China. • The city has a famous mixture of western and eastern cultures.

  3. The Bund-外滩 • The Bund in Shanghai refers to the 1 mile stretch along the west side of the Huangpu River. • It contains buildings of various Western classical and modern styles.

  4. Shanghai was initially a British settlement. • The Bund has dozens of historical buildings that housed banks and trading houses from all over the world.

  5. Pudong 浦东 • Pudong is the east bank of the Huangpu River. • Pudong is China's center of finance and commerce. • Pudong is home to the Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone and the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

  7. Huangpu River Cruise • The Huangpu River is Shanghai’s and a thrid of China’s shipping route to the East China Sea. • The historic west bank (the Bund), and the modern east side (Pudong), as well as the working port areas can be seen. • Cruises range from 30 min. to 3 hours, but all focus on the Bund and Pudong.

  8. The largest attractions are the Peace Hotel and the Customs House in the Bund. • From there, the ship passes Huangpu Park and Pudong can be seen. • After that, there is the International Passenger Terminal, Waibaidu Bridge, and various other tunnels and bridges. • The Wusong Fort is at where the Huangpu dumps into the Yangtze.
