  1. Mannheim May 6th 2006 Motorcycle Safety awareness day.

  2. Motorcycle safety awareness • The Safety Day was a fantastic success. • An approx: 300 people and bikes participated during the day. • This was an all day event, so we had bikes and visitors coming and going all day! • The MSF instructors have numerous safety events which visitors could ride or watch and Trophies and prizes were awarded to the winners of each event... • Some of the events were: • Slow Race: The winner rides as slow as he can against the other riders. The last to cross the finish line wins. A Trophy was awarded for this. • Dart Toss: Rider had to ride slow to a barrel and pick up as many darts as he could without stopping or putting his foot down. He then rode towards the Dart Board and threw the darts (all at one time) the rider that scored the most broken balloons won. Everyone that rode and broke any balloons got prizes which were supplied by the various vendors. ( had scrounged as much as I could to insure we got exposure)

  3. Motorcycle safety awareness • V-Rod: Anyone brave enough to try out the special equipped V-Rod was allowed to ride it. The bike was set up with special out riggers to allow a total lean of 42 degrees. This takes some practice, however it was possible and this event was a great hit! • Box event: The MSF instructors marked off three boxes. The rider needed to do a figure 8 within the box, without crossing the line of the box. The first box was 28 foot wide, the second was 24 foot and the last was 20 foot. Most maneuvered the first two, but not the 20 foot box. There was only one winner and he received a Trophy. • Straight line cone run: Riders must maneuver a line of cones set up in a straight line. He weaves between the cones and the one doing it quickest, win. • The exposure was great and most of the Commanders of the Mannheim community were represented, to include The BSB Commander and General Via senior mission Commander

  14. Motorcycle safety awareness • This was a great event and at a time when motorcycle fatalities are at the tips of all Commanders tongues, we showed that we care and we are interested in pushing motorcycle safety awareness. This event was put together locally and was a success because it was organized by the soldiers and riders themselves and financially supported by us with funding for banners BBQ as well trophies and plenty of Eddies time too. It was not a military order of you MUST attend and that I believe made the difference. We had approximately 400 people attend over the entire day. • Kudos to Eddie Kane for his efforts in making this a great day and a home run for us all.
