  1. GCSE French/German/SpanishHow to Revise What will be tested? You will take a Listening paper – GCSE Higher Reading paper – GCSE Higher Speaking – Controlled assessment Writing - Controlled assessment You cannot revise everything – you haven’t finished the course yet. You should focus on the topics you have covered.

  2. The GCSE topicsUse this list and tick off each heading when you have revised. • Lifestyle • Health • Healthy and unhealthy lifestyles and their • Consequences • Relationships and Choices • Relationships with family and friends • Future plans regarding: marriage/partnership • Social issues and equality • Leisure • Free Time and the Media • Free time activities • Shopping, money, fashion and trends • Advantages and disadvantages of new technology

  3. Holidays • Plans, preferences, experiences • What to see and getting around • Home and Environment & Home and Local Area • Special occasions celebrated in the home • Home, town, neighbourhood and region, where it is and what it is like. • Environment • Current problems facing the planet • Being environmentally friendly within the home and local area • Work and Education & School/College and Future Plans, Current and Future Jobs • What school/college is like • Pressures and problems • Looking for and getting a job • Advantages and disadvantages of different jobs

  4. Start with vocabulary • Choose a unit on the list of topics • Learn vocabulary use the double pages at the end of each unit. • Look cover write check • Scribble vocabulary as you read through the list • Test yourself

  5. Listening The paper takes 45 minutes You have 5 minutes preparation time when you must annotate questions, label images & prep the paper Tasks will be like those in your text book: Match up, choose the correct letter, true/false/not mentioned,who,postive/negative/postive& negative Towards the end of the paper there will be some comprehension types questions asked and answered in English.

  6. Revise Listening after vocabulary • Re do exercises in your text book via Moodle • GCSE Bitesize • Listen and transcribe

  7. Reading • The reading paper takes 50 minutes. • The tasks will be similar to those in your text book Match up, choose the correct letter, true/false/not mentioned,who,postive/negative/postive & negative Towards the end of the paper there will be some comprehension types questions asked and answered in English.

  8. Revise Reading after vocabulary • Re do exercises in your text book • Translate word for word

  9. Speaking • You will take a speaking test with your teacher. There are 3 stages Stage 1 • Class work, homework leading up to an extended piece of writing that you can use in the test. • You will be shown the task the lesson before you do stage 2 Stage 2 • Choose 40 words to help you Stage 3 • The test – this will last 4-6 minutes and will be recorded.

  10. Revising Speaking • Look cover speak check • Learn a bit at a time • Get someone to test you

  11. Writing • You will take the writing test in class with your teacher. There are 3 stages Stage 1 • Classwork, homework leading up to an extended piece of writing that you can use in the test. • You will be shown the task the lesson before you do stage 2 Stage 2 • Choose 40 words to help you Stage 3 • The test – this will be taken in your lessons in exam conditions. • You will have 1 hour to write 250 – 300 words in answer to the task set by your teacher.

  12. Revising writing • Look cover write check • Learn a bit at a time • Time yourself and write out your work • Touch check at the end and find you errors • Compare what you wrote from memory with the actual and highlight mistakes
