Yousuf Karsh was born in Mardin, a city in the Ottoman Empire which is now present day turkey and is of Armenian heritage. when Yousuf was 14 he and his family fled to Syria to avoid persecution. Two years later Yousuf moved to Canada to live with his uncle George Nakash who was a photographer. Karsh helped his uncle in the studio and soon met with John Garo, a famous portrait photographer, and soon started on his career by establishing a studio in the Chateau Laurier hotel.   3. Locations and Contexts: Yousuf Karsh works in the studio and is also known as the master of studio lights, he also works on location in offices of politicians and movie sets of famous actors and actresses.. Albert Einstein
