  1. Climate Change Science and Solutions Creating innovative education tools for Native Americans and other rural Communities on the Colorado Plateau Northern Arizona University Climate Change Education (CCE): Climate Change Education Partnership (CCEP) Program, Phase I (CCEP-I)

What is Climate Science & Solutions Partnership? • CSSP is a National Science Foundation grant funded to create a climate change education program for secondary schools and communities on the Colorado Plateau. • CSSP will create a regionally and culturally relevant climate science and solutions curriculum for grades 6-12. • CSSP will produce supplemental educational materials such as posters and climate change video clips.

  3. What is Climate Science & Solutions Partnership? • CSSP will be implemented in two phases: • Phase one will produce a high school field test for a climate change curriculum community education programs, and regional partnerships. • Phase two (pending funding) will produce and implement additional curriculum modules and will expand educational programs to communities and schools across the Colorado Plateau.

Our Partners • A team of climate scientists from Northern Arizona University comprising biological, earth, and political scientists • Education experts promoting STEM Learning (NAU Center for Science Teaching and Learning, Applied Indigenous Studies (AIS) & Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals(ITEP), & Biological Sciences Curriculum Studies (BSCS)) • Education practitioners from 6-12 schools that serve Native and rural students & the Diné and Hopi Department’s of Education • Regional community groups dedicated to developing regional solutions to climate change in northern Arizona and on the Navajo Nation, include the Black Mesa Water Coalition (BMWC) and Diné Binaanish Yá'át'éehgo Nooséél (DBYN)/Navajo Green Jobs(formerly the Navajo Green Economy Coalition, and Tó Nizhoní Aní).
